Identity
Who we are
We are a group of called out people following the pattern set by Christ and the Apostles
The Church of Christ finds her strength in Jesus Christ, the founder and the head of the Church (Matthew 16:18; Act 20:28; Ephesians 5:23). The Church of Christ believes and teaches that Jesus established only one Church (Matthew 16:18; Ephesians 4:4-6). The Church of Christ recognizes the doctrine of Christ that is, the New Testament as the final authority on all religious matters (2 John 9, 2 Timothy 3: 14-17; Revelation 22:18-19).
This implies that members of the Church of Christ do not submit to religious practices, teachings, titles etc. that are not scripturally recognized. The Church of Christ is neither a Roman Catholic Church nor a Pentecostal Church. The Church of Christ is not a denomination. The Church of Christ emphasizes unity on the basis of agreement in the interpretation of the Word of God.
The Church of Christ is owned by Jesus Christ.
She is not owned by any man. She has no human head in the name of Pope, General Superintendent (G.S), General Overseer (G.O) or General Manager (G.M.). The Church Serves God based on Christ’s instructions as revealed by the Holy Spirit through the apostles and other writers in the New Testament. She does not exploit people as man-made churches do today. The leaders of the Church of Christ do not wear any special unscriptural titles and robes to distinguish themselves from members of the Church. There is no clergy/laity division in the Church.
The Church is a family and were all brothers and sisters. You can choose today to give your life to Jesus through faith, repentance and baptism and he will add you to His Church (Acts 2:41 & 47).
