I. God’s Goodness

Definition: God is the final standard of what is good; all He is and does is worthy of approval.

Key Scriptures About God’s Goodness: Luke 18:19; Ps. 100:5; Ps. 34:8; Gen. 1:31; Ps. 119:68; James 1:17; Ps. 84:11; Rom. 8:28, 32; Heb. 12:10.

  1. God defines goodness by His own character.

Application: Believers should imitate God’s goodness by doing good to all (Gal. 6:10) and seeking Him as the ultimate good (Ps. 73:25–26).

II. God’s Love

Definition: God eternally gives of Himself to bring blessing to others.

III. God’s Mercy

Definition: God’s goodness toward those in misery and distress.

IV. God’s Grace

Definition: God’s goodness toward those who deserve punishment, given freely.

  1. Grace cannot be earned; it is a gift.
  2. Grace covers salvation and Christian living.

Application: Depend on God’s grace daily, avoiding self-reliance.

V. God’s Patience

Definition: God’s goodness in delaying judgment to give room for repentance.

Discussion Points:

  1. God is “slow to anger” for our benefit.
  2. Patience is rooted in trust in God’s timing.

Application: Be patient with people and situations, trusting God’s promises.
